PAT (Portable Appliance Testing)
PAT refers to the regular testing of portable electrical equipment, ie Equipment that plugs into the mains.
Regular checks minimise the risk of electrical equipment causing a fire or giving a you, your family or a visitor an electric shock. Either event could be very expensive or result in a serious insurance claim.
PAT is relavent to private houses and businesses alike. Your home contains your life, all your memories, your souveniers, everything. A single electrical fault could start a fire which would destroy all your posessions. Worse still it could kill you or your loved ones. An electric shock may well do the same.
Testing all the portable appliances in your home will locate any potential faults and minimise the risk of fire or electric shock. For the average home it takes around an hour.
